Our 8th Family-Reunion of September 2012 at
Bad Windsheim near Rotenburg ob der Tauber
Dear members of the families Arnswaldt, Arenswald and Arnswald
During our last family reunion 2010 in Weinböhla the families decided the location for our next meeting should be Rothenburg ob der Tauber in the Frankenland. This had been done especially for our AMERICANS – but unfortunately only four persons came from America to Germany.
The first two members had already arrived at the hotel on Sunday the second of September. On Tuesday we were already 10 persons and we made a short trip around the little town Bad Windsheim.
Afterwards we had our dinner in the Restaurant “Storchen” .We got to know the different style of cooking in different German areas and some surprises.
Our first official day was Thursday. The last 11 people finally arrived on Friday.
On Thursday we had a special Franken-Meal called “Tafelspitz” (veal with a horseradish sauce and cranberries) at the hotel. We sat together and had interesting conversations in a pleasant atmosphere.
On Friday we started our trip by bus to the nice Tauber valley. Our first aim was the “Herrgotts-Kirche” in the little town Creglingen with its famous altar hand-crafted by Tillman Riemenschneider. Well known in the international art scene.
Our next aim was “Schloss Weikersheim” with its beautiful park of the 16th century. After a small lunch we continued our trip to the last stop in Bad Mergentheim. There we visited the “Deutschordensmuseum” founded in the year 1219.
Back in the hotel the evening offers a tasty “Franken-Buffett” with a lot of specials of the Franken region. Everybody was filled with enthusiasm.
On Saturday was no common program and everybody could do what he was keen on. As the weather was very fine some people decided to visit the “Freilandmuseum” or to visit the “Franken-Therme”
The family-meeting began in the late afternoon and they decided: The next Family-reunion shall take place in Freiburg in the “Black-Forest” (Schwarzwald) at the beginning of September 2014. We all hope many members will join the reunion in 2014. We will give you more information when we know.
The contribution for one household is 40,00 € for two years. Everybody who would like to come to this family-reunion should pay 20,00 € for one person. This fee is only a reserve for the “Office”. This money we need for the next reunion. The “AMERICANS” can pay, when they come to Germany.
